Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification offered to qualified and suitably experienced applicants by the Project Management Institute (PMI) is a globally recognized credential that exhibits brilliance in project management tasks. Earning a PMP certification makes a person more confident, knowledgeable and skilled about their profession, along with expanding job prospects and earnings.

PMP certification exam fees are not the only charges required for applying for the PMP certification exam, but there are several other related charges. The PMI membership for an individual member is $129, student member is $32 and retiree member is $65. An applicant has to also submit a mandatory application fee of $10.
35 contact hours related to project management course is a mandatory PMP certification exam requirement laid by the PMI for being eligible to apply for PMP certification examination. There is a wide range of coursework offered to qualify as contact hours, which is accepted by the PMI. An applicant can acquire these 35 contact hours by undergoing training courses offered by PMI R.E.P.s institutions. The training costs vary between $400 and $1500, depending on the institution and the location.
PMP Certification Examination Cost
Applicants are required to apply and pass the PMP certification examination to obtainPMP certification. An applicant can apply for the computer–based exam called computer based testing (CBT) or paper based testing (PBT).
PMP Certification exam cost for CBT (PMI members) is $405
PMP Certification exam cost for CBT (non-members) is $555
PMP Certification exam cost for PBT (PMI members) is $250 and
PMP Certification exam cost for PBT (non-members) is $400
Since an applicant gets a discounted rate for the PMP certification examination cost, it is advisable to become a PMI member at the outset.
Professional Development Units (PDU)Persons, who have passed the PMP exam and procured the PMP certification, need to maintain their credential by earning PDUs. Under the Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR), PMI needs a PMP certified person to maintain his/her certification by earning 60 PDUs every 3 years. A PMP certified person can earn his/her PDUs from free sources and also from classroom trainings, Project Management seminars and workshops. However the PDUs earned from trainings can vary and the cost of every PDU can run to quite a few thousand dollars.
Besides these three main PMP exam costs, applicants who are not able to meet the eligibility requirements during the PMP audit can apply for a written refund at least a month in advance to the PMP exam end eligibility date. Applicants will get a full refund but without the processing fee.
